Why I Joined the FLP: As a volunteer, I'm looking to provide practical financial knowledge and perhaps even nutrition education and sustainable and healthy food habits.I want to share my story with an honest and open foundation that treats people with compassion.
I was born in Springfield, MA but grew up in various locations around my birth city. My family has always provided for me and rarely gone without. Not having the necessities isn't a situation that I can easily comprehend. I would say that I had a nice start in building a life for myself due to my family's foundation. As an adult, I made some bad financial decisions, mainly with overusing and maxing credit card limits and thus getting in the habit of carrying balances, which accrues interest quite heavily. I became accustomed to this money wasting behavior but started to finally take control of my situation in mid 2018 after being saddled with revolving debt for about three years. I wish to have a discussion about financial management and some easy tips I implemented that helped alleviate financial stress. My story and advice may help you save money, and even more valuable, time.

Professional Bio

Rickey Cayo studied nutrition and earned an associate's degree from Holyoke Community College and a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. However, he hasn't actually used the degree in any way. Recently, he's worked for Savers (8/2018 - 3/2020) as an Ambassador for Hartsprings. Currently (6/2020 - now), he's working with his twin brother doing independent landscaping and moving and also hoping to join the amazing family at First Ladies of Poverty Foundation for community development and volunteer work.
