​Why I Joined the First Ladies of Poverty Foundation (FLP):​  I was eighteen when I became a mother. I remember back in high school this profound feeling that I wanted to be and do more in life then what I seen growing up.
​

     Uniqueness is something that grabs my attention. I worked as a PCA for many years. I hold a CDL B licenses. That was an exciting moment because I said out of the blue it was what I wanted and conquered it. I did a semester at Penn state online college in family and youth study. I love family, meeting new people, and going new places (especially restaurants).

​     I enjoy writing reviews. I started a book with things my family has said. I am still adding to it, my family is very comical, and we have a way of saying things; definitely need more laughter in the world. I come from a small town called Warwick. I still reside in Warwick even though I have not been fond of it for a while now. I never struggled with making money just being able to save, keep, and or invest money is the struggle. I have overcome more than a few things in my life; accepting being set apart from the rest was a challenge and homelessness but, I am an overcomer.

      I give God honor for how far I have come and where I am now; I have never been one to give in easily or just except certain things as they are, and my family is my iron that sharpens me. I have a very big family outside of my immediate family who are also very supportive. I have three children now adults who have always been inspiration (we are very close), so I want them to know and see all things are possible.

     Whether that means changing their actions, reactions, paths, friends for the better or that their dreams will manifest as long as they put the work in and have faith. I admired their gifts and talents that I see, and I hope to be around to watch them manifest (every day is not promised). Most of my inspiration comes from within myself to be better because of the many things I have pushed through, as I will continue to.

Skills I Offer + My Specialties

• Independent Community Manager: I connect people who want to become financially literate, start / grow a business and build generational wealth to the resources, programs, mentors and services for them to do so, no matter what stage they are at in their journey. I lead / host a weekly virtual fireside chat / generational wealth conversations, sometimes hosting monthly in-person generational wealth bootcamps.

• Independent Copywriter: I use my writing skills, copy-writing skills to create compelling content on anything related to finances, job search / employment / self employment, business, poverty, social responsibility, leadership and/or community development. I also engage weekly writing projects that support First Ladies of Poverty Foundation's weekly virtual fireside chat on an agreed upon topic with us to help more people learn about First Ladies of Poverty Foundation community, services and products to become more financial literate, business savvy, socially responsible so that they can break generational poverty in their family, community and beyond.

Professional Bio:​

    Teresa Gillian is an inquisitive, hardworking, open minded and supportive team player who loves to have fun.  She currently an Independent FLP community manager and resident copywriter. Formerly, she worked in healthcare, where her "time serving in healthcare was rewarding. She took care of a young woman in her forties who had MS, and through her encouragement, her clients were able to receive some independence back with the ability to take care of themselves again: from feeding themselves, doing their own hair and exercising daily. Teresa also is a currently CDL driver license holder and loving mother.

    The expertise she shares with First Ladies of Poverty Foundation community of wealth builders stems from: working with a variety of generations, primary and secondary schooling, some college, and her personal wealth building journey.
