The precautions of COVID-19 and Quarantine caught you off-guard? A lot of folks are feeling lost, confused and overwhelmed in this time. Never fear-- First Ladies of Poverty Foundation is here! Here are 10 Simple but IMPACTFUL recommendations on how to use this time of quarantine to create a more financially stable and impactful future in this time.

1. Join a Community or Association

Every "Struggle and Overcome" success story includes a supportive and resourceful person or persons that helped the struggling individual get to where they are today. Likewise, many individuals who were able to survive, thrive or overcome this time with grace were able to pull connections from the different communities they are a part of by coming together to get what they needed: from basic necessities and food to remote / freelancing jobs to knowledge of government assistance, policies and current events to emotional support.

For anyone looking to use this time in the most productive way possible and are seeking to use this quarantine to come out stronger and even more financially stable than you were before with the assistance of a supportive community, consider First Ladies of Poverty Foundation membership-magazine program and attend our upcoming networking and community events.

2.  Start Your Business or Side Hustle

COVID-19 has revealed a lot of disparities in the economy from health to employment to racial inequity, and the world is starting to take notice of the significance of remote / freelancing / work from home employment opportunities. Even if would still rather have a full-time or part-time job, consider having something else you do in your spare time or just for a financial cushion that you can do from home (or from a coffee shop, a beach on the coast in Africa, etc.) just with a computer, phone and internet.

If you are taking note of this economy shift and interested in expanding your access to professional development opportunities, browse our business certification training programs to get started with a work-from-home remote business that will allow you to create multiple streams of income. Not only will you learn how to start a specific online business with mentoring support, but you'll also learn how to properly manage your money and invest to create multiple streams of income.

3. Learn Some New Skills / Talents

4. Get Your Finances In Order

Taking this time to create a plan of action to get your finances in check and repair any damage that has been done if necessary is SUPER IMPORTANT. Get a financial mentor to help you start saving and building your credit. Now that everything is becoming online these days, invest in an Identity Theft Protection Program to make sure you monitor and protect use of your personal information so that you can catch any mis-use before damage is done.

If you are seeking a professional financial mentor or to enroll in a financial program / seek financial services (from saving, budgeting, credit repair and ID Theft Protection), get a free consultation to get started today or join our weekly financial literacy workshop.

6. Create a Routine for Time Management / Productivity

Even though some of us are not showing up at the office everyday, it is still important to maintain some sense of routine and order, some sense of strategy to how you're getting things done throughout the day.  If you are having trouble managing your time, staying focused, getting things done and you know you could use a little (or a lot) of assistance, book your free consultation today and get a quote to work with a personal and professional development mentor who can help you create a personal blueprint for effectively managing your time.

7. Get Rid of Things That Are No Longer Serving Your Growth

Once you figure out what your priorities and goals are, do what you need to do to get rid of anything that is no longer serving those priorities and goals. Clean out that closet, delete those contacts, clean out your social media feed, unfollow people you don't really stay in touch with or whose content you don't resonate with.  This is will allow you to make room (mental, physical and emotional space) for things that are no longer helping you grow or aligned with your priorities and goals.

8. Find a Mentor or Accountability Partner

96% of individuals who come to the First Ladies of Poverty Foundation request mentor-ship. Why?

After doing something independently for so long and not seeing any results, you come to the conclusion that perhaps you need assistance--whether it come from individual mentor-ship, community-based mentor-ship or both.

Getting a mentor allows you to get the 411 on the nuances of whatever your goals are, helping you to iron out the details that will not only help you reach your goals faster without wasting time and resources, but you also get a bigger perspective on how to see things and navigate certain circumstances to get the results you want in 6 months to 1 year instead of 5-10 years from now.

Whether you are looking for a personal, professional or leadership development mentor or financial planning mentor, browse this directory of professional, credible and accomplished mentors who can help you accelerate your journey to a higher quality of life and financial stability.
