I have read every single response to our Free resources survey, and I am both saddened by the circumstances of everyone in this world and also ecstatic about the opportunities and resources First Ladies of Poverty Foundation has to offer you. I will be going down the list of circumstances posed in our surveys and the relevant resource that we have to offer. Here is what many of you are currently wishing for and the resource(s) that we offer to help you get there:
An award-winning mentoring community and membership program for hard-working and talented people of color seeking a personal blueprint for overcoming systemic barriers of oppression to escape an unfulfilling lifestyle and attain a higher quality of life, excelling in all aspects of their lives: personal, professional, in leadership and financially.
We also serve as a service provider for allies, educational institutions and organizations looking to partner with us to promote, recruit or bring our educational and mentor-ship programming to their communities.

Cities across Western Massachusetts are engaging in discussion around the FY21 Budget. Northampton, Westfield, and Greenfield are some neighboring cities that have engaged in live public comment/ listening sessions at their City Council meetings, via teleconference (Zoom, Meet, Webex etc). Our City Council has NOT allowed for such public comment, unless it's submitted prior to the meeting via email and are simply attached to the minutes (not actually brought up in the meeting).
This does not allow for the community as a whole to voice their comments or concerns and when asked when public comment will be available, there has been no concrete answer. So many other cities have been able to engage the community for input, why hasn't Chicopee?
Access to our government is vital to a health democracy, especially in these momentous times.

You are at home, making dinner, handling business on a phone call.
You get a phone call from a friend.
"I am so sorry this happened. What can I do?"
You stand, perplexed.
"What do you mean? What happened?"
***Silence on the other end ***
