Both organizations have a focus on community building and financial prosperity through the use of mentorship and informational workshops. While Venture Valley Mentors currently has a focus on local communities, the partnership with the First Ladies of Poverty opens up an expansive, global network of new and seasoned entrepreneurs for them to connect with and support. The ultimate goal of this collaborative venture is to further advance the effort to fill in the gaps of the intersection between entrepreneurship, community development / social responsibility, racial equity, mentorship and economic relief, with the end result of poverty reduction in local community spaces and worldwide. The pairing will stand to support BIPOC business and entrepreneurs, and invest in local communities and their specific needs, as well as empower individuals to start, scale and sustain successful, socially responsible businesses. Through these ventures, individuals can find a sustained, higher quality of living and create a wealth blueprint that will last generations. With the partnership comes the new First Ladies Massachusetts Chapter serving within the Western Massachusetts community and general New England area. Kicking off the new beginning, First Ladies of Poverty Foundation’s founder and CEO Shatoyia Jones spoke on Valley Venture Mentors Community Night Panel Celebrating Black Entrepreneurs. The first official event of the partnership will be a Generational Wealth Bootcamp, focusing on Online Entrepreneurship & Digital Real Estate, hosted by First Ladies of Poverty Foundation and sponsored by Valley Venture Mentors. The preliminary event will be completely free of charge (donations welcome). It will take place on Wednesday evenings, the first one taking place on Wednesday, February 24th, again on Saturday afternoon, February 27, and will be offered both as an in-person and an online, live-streamed event every Wednesday evening and every other Saturday afternoon. See Eventbrite for more details. RSVP required. Following the bootcamp will be First Ladies of Poverty Foundation’s quarterly Assetsummit Tour 2021, sponsored by Valley Venture Mentors, amongst other organizational friends, taking place on Saturday, May 29, 2021 in celebration of the organization’s 3rd anniversary of service and impact. The In-Person event will be held at Valley Venture Mentors (with limited space available on a first-come, first-served basis);RSVPs are required in addition to COVID safety measures. In-person admission begins at $199, and virtual admission will be donations-based. Virtual attendees will be able to tune into a livestream. If you miss the first one, no worries; you will get the opportunity to attend Assetsummit again in August, as the event occurs every three months. Looking toward the future, the two organizations hope to partner to create comprehensive programming, specifically serving BIPOC to jumpstart their new businesses, grow and compete for the chance to win access to a network of resources and equity-free funding to manage, protect and sustain their businesses and provide a higher quality of living for themselves and their loved ones. The potential for impact is exciting for both parties, and their work will continue to strive for strengthening community relationships to increase access to local entrepreneurial mentorship, networking and training resources for economic growth and sustainability.
